# 3.1.5: Activate Element

The activation state of an element can be controlled with the **“Activate Element”**-component (see fig. 3.1.5.1). This component expects a model and a list of boolean values as input. The list of true/false values will be mapped to the activation status of the elements in the model. **“True”** corresponds to active, **“False”** to inactive. Section [3.5.9](https://manual-1-3.karamba3d.com/3-in-depth-component-reference/3.5-algorithms/3.5.9-beso-for-beams) shows, how the **“Activate Element”**-component enables one to view the solution history of the iterative **“BESO for Beams”**-algorithm.
